I've been drawing and forming letters since I could pick up a crayon. I've always loved creating. Working with colour, form, shape, imagery, layers, and brilliant ideas inspire me. I have a quirky, fun, colourful outlook on life, and I feel that is reflected in my work.
I received my Bachelor of Visual Communications Degree from Medicine Hat College in 2003. I have been working as a graphic designer for the past seven years, and have been teaching myself web design for the past three. I have a combined total of four years working for design firms. Please visit my portfolio to get an idea about what I love to do.
My skills reflect my professional experience as well as my own experiments and self-teachings. I'm happy to give you the specifics of what I can do - just ask!
I'm currently available for design projects, so drop me a line with your ideas and thoughts or any questions you might have. If you just want to say hello, even better! I love emails!
I currently reside in Burnaby, British Columbia, almost-in-Vancouver-but-not-quite.
The name was conceived in 2001, merging my interests in the visual and spirituality with my name. The result has stuck with me ever since.
After creating the name, I discovered that a “visual aura” also refers to the name of the bright lights that sometimes come with migraine headaches. Incidentally, my own physical vision isn't so great, I used to suffer from recurring headaches, and I always see floaters and sparks in front of my eyes. As time passes, I see that the name “visualaura” is more appropriate than I could have imagined.
I was born and raised in Saskatchewan, and even though I've been living on the West Coast for the past three years, I suppose I'll always be a prairie girl at heart!
I taught English in South Korea for a year in 2004-2005. That's where I met my fiancé, Guy, a fellow Canadian and English teacher. We're getting married on June 20th, 2008, and I couldn't be more excited!
Some things that excite and inspire me include, but are not limited to, technology, bright colours, black and white, spirituality, reiki (of which I am a level 1 practitioner), rainbows, plants and flowers, birds, food and wine, odd wordplay, my graphics tablet, dawn and twilight, randomness and order, good manners, sushi, natural health, children, baking, cooking, and music.
I am not so fond of bad smells, loud noises, neck pain, rudeness, and the fact that having wide, size 10 feet means that it's often difficult to find interesting shoes.
